Nicolet College - Learn to learn online Jan. 14

Online learning session Jan. 14 in Phelps cancelled

due to cold; rescheduled for Feb. 4

Due to dangerouysly cold wind chills, Nicolet College cancelled the Discover Online Learning session scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 14, and rescheduled it for Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Phelps High School.

The session will start at 6:30 p.m. and cover all the different aspects of what it takes to successfully earn college credits with online classes.

During the free event you'll learn:
- how online classes work;
- expectations and time commitments required for online classes;
- type of computer equipment necessary;
- traits of successful online learners.

Everyone attending will get hands-on practice using email, attaching files to emails, entering a chat room, and other common practices associated with online learning.

The flexible format of online classes - which allow students to complete the work at the times that fit best with their schedules - is a driving force in their growing popularity. Online enrollments increased 63 percent at Nicolet over the past two academic years, with the equivalent of 138 full-time students taking classes online. This growth trend is expected to continue.

Current online classes offered through Nicolet include Accounting, Business, Computer Software, Early Childhood Education, Economics, English, Math, Medical Assistant, Medical Terminology, Music, Nursing, Office Technology, Philosophy, Psychology, Science and Sociology.

Space is limited for the information session. Participants can reserve a seat by calling Phelps High School at (715) 545-2724.
