Nicolet College - Writer Jeff Eaton kicks off Poetry Series Oct. 30
Writer Jeff Eaton to kick off
Poetry Series Oct. 30 at Nicolet College
The Nicolet College Library will kick off its new Poetry Series Thursday, Oct. 30, with a reading by long-time poet and Nicolet English instructor Jeff Eaton.
The free event will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Nicolet College Library, located in the Learning Resources Center on the Rhinelander campus. Refreshments will be served.
A writer since his youth, Eaton majored in journalism and creative writing in college and went on to spend 15 years as an award-winning newspaper reporter and editor. He then returned to graduate school, poetry, and new career teaching college English. He spent a year teaching English at a university in China before coming to Nicolet College in 1994.
Along the way, Eaton continued to have poems bubble to the surface, sometimes in response to current events, sometimes to the happenstance of daily life. His poems frequently reflect his wide-ranging interests in the sciences and the arts. Poems by Eaton have been published in two anthologies, as broadsides, and as postcards. He also writes about sailing for a national magazine.
The event will be the first in a series of public literary events at the Nicolet College
For those who cannot attend the poetry reading or any future events, all programs will be available for stream or download through Nicolet's CourseCast portal at http://library.nicoletcollege.edu/coursecasting.
