Everyone is invited to a family-oriented community celebration Sunday, Sept. 27, at Nicolet College to celebrate the investiture of Elizabeth Burmaster as the fifth president of Nicolet.
The formal investiture ceremony will run from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Nicolet College Theatre with the community celebration starting at 1:30 p.m. and ending at about 3 p.m. People are welcome to attend all or any part of the festivities.
The celebration starting at 1:30 p.m. will include four different bands, a Native American dance troupe, Clydesdale-drawn wagon rides around campus, food, Suzie Sunshine the clown, and the second half of the Packer game playing on the screen in the Nicolet College Theatre.
“This is an open invitation to everyone to stop by and join us in celebrating Nicolet and the role the college plays in helping build a stronger Northwoods,” Burmaster said. “Whether it’s just for 10 minutes or for the entire event, we encourage people to come and help launch the next chapter in the rich history of Nicolet College.”
Free food and refreshments will include gourmet pies made by Nicolet Culinary Arts students, ice cream, root beer floats, coffee, and popcorn.
Music will start at 1:30 p.m. with The Usual Suspects playing in the tent in front of the Learning Resources Center (LRC). Other performances include Scott Kirby at 1:45 p.m. on the lakeside patio behind the LRC; Waswagoning Dance Theatre at 2 p.m. in front of the LRC; David Dall at 2:15 p.m. on the lakeside patio; and the Rhinelander Community Band at 2:30 p.m. in the tent in front of the LRC. Each performance will last about a half hour.
