Nicolet geared toward office professionals
Nicolet College will offer a new Microsoft Office 2007 Technical Certificate next semester for office professionals looking to advance their current skills and for those looking to start toward a career in the office management field.
The 14-credit certificate, which can be completed in one year, will provide beginning- to advanced-level training in the entire Microsoft Office Suite. This includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
"It's important - even critical - for everyone working in a professional office environment to stay up-to-date on the latest software," said Jolene Johnson, faculty member in Nicolet's Administrative Assistant program. "This new certificate is a great way for individuals to learn the latest and greatest and earn a college credential along the way."
Spring Semester classes start January 22.
All classes will be offered online, giving students a high degree of flexibility in when they complete the coursework. Interested students who are new to online learning and maybe even a little intimidated by the concept of taking classes over the Internet can rest assured there will be plenty of support, stressed Nicolet faculty member Lida Watkins, who also teaches in the Administrative Assistant program.
"We've been teaching online classes for six years and know what students new to online learning need to be successful," Watkins said. "Because of this, our online students enjoy a very high rate of success."
Support services include orientation sessions that show students the components of online learning and how it works, face-to-face open lab time with instructors when students are enrolled in a class, and regular phone and email contact with instructors to work through anything that needs personalized attention.
