Nicolet College's Outdoor Adventure Series
The Outdoor Adventure Series at Nicolet College is currently in full swing with many upcoming adventures still open to people looking to make the most of summer in the Northwoods, according to the coordinator of the program.
"So far we've had a great year and the best part is there are still several months to go in the summer and early fall season," said Martha Schouweiler, Outdoor Adventure Series coordinator.
Some adventures last only half a day while others cover several days. Remaining trips include numerous sea kayak adventures on area lakes, the Willow Flowage, a special class just for kids, and a couple of trips to Lake Superior, including one for kayakers who like to be pampered.
Canoeists will be setting off for area waters which include the Bear River, an ice cream trip on Lake Mohawksin, a trip to the Sylvania wilderness area, and other destinations.
Other upcoming adventures include hikes to Porcupine Mountains, Whisker Lake Wilderness, and Sylvania; a yoga, sauna and brunch class; fly fishing and wild rice gathering.
"Many of our classes offer introductory instruction to give people the skills to safely enjoy the outdoors," Schouweiler explained. "Other adventures are more trip oriented and geared more for those who already have the basic skills."
