team up to bring Civil War expert to the Northwoods

Stories of Wisconsin soldiers who served in the Civil War will be the topic of a presentation by University of Wisconsin professor Brett Barker at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, at the Boulder Junction Public Library.

Barker’s presentation, The Real War Will Never Get in the Book: Recovering the Past through Civil War Diaries, is free and open to the public.

The trials and tribulations of the soldiers and their families will come to light as he shares the words and stories from America’s deadliest conflict.

Barker is the author of Exploring Civil War Wisconsin: a Survival Guide for Researchers and is also an assistant professor of history at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County and UW-Stevens Point’s Collaborative Degree Program.

The event is being sponsored by the Nicolet College Library Outreach Series and the Boulder Junction Public Library. Refreshments will be served.
