Nicolet Building Trades Open House May 7 and 8;
looking for home building project for next year
Nicolet College Building Trades students are putting the finishing touches on their recent home building project and are getting ready to show it off to the public at an Open House 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, May 7, and again 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 8.
The home, built on contract for a private party, is located on Lake Thompson at 4137 Circle Drive east of Rhinelander. The 1,547-square-foot home has three bedrooms, two baths, a fireplace, master suite, 10-foot ceilings, maple cabinetry, all hardwood and tile floors, in-floor heating, and large windows and doors overlooking the lake.
The home is a Wisconsin Energy Star certified home and Green Built certified home. Green Built certification is a national award-winning green building initiative and is partnered with the Wisconsin Environmental Initiative. The home also includes smart-home infrastructure and is solar ready.
“The students did a great job building this house and I have to commend them for their craftsmanship and attention to detail,” said Jeff Labs, Nicolet Building Trades instructor.
