Nicolet student recruitment materials
win two golds in national competition

Student recruitment materials produced by Nicolet College’s Community Relations office were selected as the best in the nation in a recent marketing competition for two-year community and technical colleges from across the country.

Nicolet took home two gold Paragon Awards in the competition sponsored by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR). NCMPR is the industry organization for marketing professionals at two year colleges across the country.

“Materials which provide prospective students with a strong sense of what Nicolet has to offer are a crucial aid in helping them decide what school is best for them,” said Nicolet College President Elizabeth Burmaster. “For our Community Relations office to have their work recognized nationally by their peers as being ‘the best’ in presenting important college information is a great accomplishment.”

Members of the Community Relations office include Jamie Pavlow, Sondra Llanos, Terry Rutlin and Sandy Kinney.

The college won for its student viewbook and for its series consisting of the educational programs booklet, application packet, and other promotional brochures. The viewbook gives prospective students an overall sense of what it’s like attending Nicolet. The educational programs booklet provides information about the specific academic programs offered at the college.

“Good use of concept throughout. Interesting and enticing visuals. Not overly saturated with information. Made me want to learn more,” is what one judge wrote about the viewbook. “Clean, simple, nice presentation. Well done!” were a judge’s comments on the educational programs booklet and related materials.

More than 1,700 entries were submitted for the annual contest with numerous categories. The only other Wisconsin winner was a silver award to the Wisconsin Technical College System for its electronic version of a guide to all 16 WTCS colleges.
