Imagine cashing one of those junk mail checks that occasionally come in the mail. That’s what best-selling author and comedian Patrick Combs did, depositing the $95,000 check marked "non-negotiable" as a practical joke.
Combs turned that experience of actual events into the comical play Man 1, Bank 0, which is coming to the Nicolet College Theatre for a special performance at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26.
Tickets are $15 and can be ordered online by clicking here or by calling the Nicolet College Box Office at (715) 365-4646, 1-800-544-3039, ext. 4646; or TDD (715) 365-4558, relay 711.
When the bank cashed the check and Combs' checking account ballooned, a David-vs.-Goliath caper ensued. The best part? When Combs tells what he did with all the money!
This award-winning Off-Broadway hit keeps generating rave reviews. "With 90 minutes of non-stop laughter, it is one of the funniest, most fascinating and fastest-moving solo plays to hit New York in many a season," Broadwayworld.com said in a review. The San Francisco Guardian wrote: "In this triumphantly true story, Patrick Combs poses the question: is found money your money?"
The Nicolet College Theatre is located in the Learning Resources Center on the Rhinelander campus, one mile south of the city just off of Hwy. G.
