May 17, 2012
Unemployment is still higher than it should be yet many manufacturers are looking to hire but can't find enough qualified employees.

That situation will be the central focus of the upcoming Solving the Workforce Paradox session from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Nicolet College.

The event is free and open to the public.

At the event Jim Morgan, president of the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce (WMC) Foundation, will share his insights from more than 50 listening sessions he's held with more than 300 manufacturing representatives from across the state.

Morgan will be joined by Nicolet representatives Ron Skallerud, executive dean of Economic Development, and Brigitte Parsons, dean of Trade and Industry, in the discussion and brainstorming session aimed at creating the skilled workforce manufacturers need.

While the session is free, reservations are required and can be made by calling Nicolet College at (715) 365-4425; 1-800-544-3039, ext. 4425. Questions can be directed to Sandy Bishop, Nicolet's director of Workforce Development, at (715) 365-4564 or 1-800-544-3039, ext. 4564.
